I came down to Daytona Aviation from New York to finish up my flight training, because I’ve been working at my private pilots license for about four years and wanted to finish up. My instructor up north had signed me off, at that point - ken, the owner contacted local examiners to schedule my check ride. And before I came down I had my check ride scheduled with plenty of time for studying and flight review. I flew with Mel, who is a seasoned flight instructor who was full of great tips and really cared for me as a student. He was also mindful about not spending too much of my money, as flying can get expensive. My ground instructor, Gus, was very helpful in explaining things that I did not quite understand. He was available every day, even weekends, to come help me with my ground school. They have a small pilot shop that is well stocked. I would recommend and I will be back for future flights. Everyone there was very helpful and kind, even down to the mechanics.
One of the best flight schools in the area. Fees for flight instructions are favorable and competitive.
I booked a flight for my husband as a surprise for his birthday as flying a plane is a dream of his. As explained to Ken, we were out of town for his birthday so I booked it for the week after. When talking to Ken I told him my weight and my husband's weight because of course safety with something like this is important. He told me the weights were good and said I could ride along, bring a camera and take some pictures. On my husband's birthday, I told him all about it. He was thrilled. Then two days before the flight I got an email (which went to my junk mail) cancelling the flight. When I called and talked to Ken he explained it was a weight limit issue. Why wouldn't he have told me this when I was planning it and we talked about weights then?! While I respect the need for safety I feel like this is a HUGE oversite on their part to book this with the given information. Now I have a husband who not only isn't getting his birthday present but has to feel bad about it bc of the weight limit. Extremely unprofessional that the teaching pilot wouldn't know or look up the restrictions before booking something like this. I am both furious and disappointed.
Is quite a nice place to be there
